Privacy Policy
Sip and Score ("we," "us," "our") is operated by Austin Teets. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Sip and Score app, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using Sip and Score, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
Information We Collect
Account information — first and last name, email, and password (stored securely by our authentication provider). Location data — with your permission, used to show nearby shops, sort by distance, and place you on the map; you can revoke this in device settings. Photos — images you attach to reviews, which may also be shown as a shop's representative photo. Content you create — reviews, scores, notes, category ratings, shops reviewed, follows, and reports. Home city and preferences — stored to power features like "Top scored." Usage and device information — limited technical data (device type, app version, error logs) to maintain and improve the app.
How We Use Information
To operate core features (nearby shops, distances, reviews/ratings, following, activity feed); to look up coffee shop information via third-party mapping services; to maintain your account; to respond to reports and enforce our Terms; to improve and maintain the app. We do not sell your personal information.
What Other Users Can See
Your first and last name is displayed publicly to other signed-in users of the app on your profile, reviews and activity, and is used to let others find you. Other users can also see shops you've reviewed, scores and notes, your follower count, and activity feed. Your email, login credentials, and precise real-time location are never shown to other users.
Third-Party Services
We rely on Supabase (backend, auth, storage) and Apple Maps Server API and Google Places API (to look up coffee shop names, addresses, and locations). These providers process data per their own privacy policies; we send only the minimum data needed and don't authorize them to use it for their own advertising.
Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your account and content while your account is active. You can delete individual reviews from your Profile. You can permanently delete your account from Account Settings, which removes your reviews, ratings, follows, settings, and account record. This cannot be undone.
Your Choices
Location — deny/revoke anytime in device settings. Photos — you control uploads and can remove via editing/deleting the review. Notifications — control or disable in Notification settings. Blocking — block any user anytime.
Your Privacy Rights (California and Other States)
If you are a California resident, the CCPA (as amended) gives you the right to know what personal information we've collected about you, request deletion, correct inaccurate information, and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information. We do not sell your personal information and do not currently share it for cross-context behavioral advertising; if that changes, we will update this Policy and provide an opt-out. Residents of other states with similar privacy laws (such as Virginia, Colorado, or Connecticut) have comparable rights. Contact us to exercise any of these rights — we will not discriminate against you for making a request.
Children's Privacy
Not directed at children under 13; we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us to remove any such data if found.
Security
We take reasonable measures (access controls, secure credential storage) but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy; material changes update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, are announced in-app.
